CAPE CARTERET, North Carolina – This Thanksgiving Day, join us for the 10th Annual Turkey Trot Fun Run, a festive community event dedicated to promoting health, wellness, and giving back. The run will take place on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2025, starting at 8:00 a.m. at The GYM Cape Carteret. Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit Easterseals PortHealth, a nonprofit organization committed to enhancing the quality of life for disabled individuals and families in our community.
The Turkey Trot Costume Fun Run has become a beloved local holiday tradition, bringing together runners and walkers of all ages to enjoy while supporting a great cause. Participants can choose between 5k or 1 mile options, making it accessible for everyone, from seasoned athletes to families with children. Join us this Thanksgiving Day for a fun-filled morning of health, camaraderie, and community spirit. Together, let’s make a difference!

Participants are encouraged to register online at RunSignUp.com/trotthetrail as soon as possible to ensure they receive a race shirt. Only the first 300 participants are guaranteed a shirt. Registration is now open. Flock registration is available for up to 5 members of your family; everyone in your flock will receive a race shirt for registering for the event.
Nearly 225 runners are already registered and 413 participated in the 2024 Turkey Trot for the Trail. The list of participants represents local families living in Cape Carteret, Emerald Isle, Swansboro, and surrounding areas, as well as extended family visiting the coast for the
holiday. We expect participation to be even higher than last year.

About the Turkey Trot Costume Fun Run:
The Turkey Trot Costume Fun Run is coming up on its tenth year of family fun on Thanksgiving Day. The start/finish area of the event takes place in the parking lot of The GYM Cape Carteret Aquatic & Wellness by the front entrance. The race course runs down the new Cape Carteret Trail and through the Star Hill neighborhood located across from Taylor Notion Rd. This race is a “fun run” and timing will not be provided. After covering operational expenses, proceeds from this year’s Turkey Trot will directly benefit Easterseals PortHealth in Morehead City NC.
